Ultra methodology
How Ultra makes a card call.
The short version: Ultra is decision support. It should show the evidence behind a recommendation, not pretend thin comps are certainty.
What Ultra is
Ultra is a decision-support agent for Pokemon flippers. It is designed to scan cards, retrieve recent public comps, estimate confidence, and recommend buy, sell, hold, or pass with linked evidence.
What Ultra is NOT
Ultra does not output a numerical grade. It is not a substitute for PSA, CGC, or SGC grading. Ultra recommendations are not financial advice and do not guarantee profit.
How Ultra makes a recommendation
- Scan: the card photo is used to identify visible card details.
- Identify: Ultra resolves set, number, variant, slab type, and obvious condition context.
- Comp retrieval: Ultra looks for recent public sales that match the card closely.
- Confidence band: Ultra widens the band when comps are thin, stale, or noisy.
- Recommendation: Ultra returns buy, sell, hold, or pass with linked evidence.
What model Ultra uses
Ultra uses Anthropic's Claude Sonnet family through the Anthropic API. UltraFlips is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.
How we measure accuracy
UltraFlips plans to publish quarterly accuracy reports comparing recommendation direction against market movement over fourteen and thirty days. Low-volume cards have wider confidence bands because available comp data is thinner.
Subscribe to accuracy reportsLimitations
- NoteCards with fewer than five sales in the last ninety days have wide confidence bands.
- NoteUltra reflects available market sentiment; it does not predict black-swan events.
- NoteUltra cannot detect trimming, recoloring, or hidden physical alterations.
- NoteHigh-value cards should still be graded or reviewed through PSA, CGC, or SGC.
